All-inclusive SEO Campaign

SEO Campaign

As an SEO Consultant I specialise in research, planning, strategy and advisory for SEO but before becoming an SEO consultant I was a Director of an SEO agency and before that a Head of Marketing so I can also deliver all aspects of an SEO campaign if you want to set your goals and leave achieving them to someone else.

The aspects of an all-inclusive SEO campaigns will vary depending on a website, its income streams, its goals, and industry but with Mr SEO Consultant an all-inclusive SEO campaign means I’ll take care of every aspect of SEO from start to finish.

How does an SEO Campaign work?

SEO strategy, Planning and keyword research

First, we’ll determine your goals for increased web traffic from organic sources. It’s quite easily actually, if you make ten sales for every hundred visitors from visitors acquired at a particular stage of a customer journey and you want 100 more sales, you need 1000 more visitors from the same stage of the customer journey.

Once we know the visitor increase you need from various stages of your customer’s journey, we research keywords to achieve the visitors. We’ll know the historic average monthly keyword search volume and we can work out how many clicks it could mean for your site by checking your organic click through rate in Google Search Console.

It means we end up with a keyword and content plan that is designed to acquire the number of visitors your site needs to achieve its traffic increase and sales goals.

SEO Audit

If you’re site is going to start competing for desirable keywords you want to make sure it’s top notch from a technical SEO perspective. I’ll audit your website and implement improvements to ensure it’s the best amongst all the sites it’s competing with. It’s kind of like getting your care serviced before a long journey, your technical SEO is quite straight forward to sort out so it’s worth getting it top notch before you begin spending on pro-active campaign activity. Once you start, it’s worth maintaining it to keep it top notch from a technical SEO perspective.

Content Generation

Once we know the keywords you want to rank for, I’ll develop landing pages and content to create relevant pages to compete for target ranks. To have the best chances of ranking content needs to be the most informative, authoritative, relevant, and up to date. I research the top-ranking websites for every term we’re competing for to identify common straights among then. I use that research to produce content has all the common traits of top-ranking pages for that keywords and contains what Google would expect it to contain in addition to including things others haven’t to ensure it’s the most informative and authoritative on the web.

When you earn a rank, you take it from someone so it’s not unusual for your competitor to improve their content to win it back. In addition, search engines likes and rewards freshness (recently updated content) so it’s a good idea to review content from time to time after it’s published. I typically review every three months, or before if its ran is decreasing.

Building up authority / off page SEO

Your off-page SEO is everything that happens off your site and mentions or links back to your brand. I’ll build backlinks, I’ll build citations, I’ll monitor and manage your reviews and presence on the web, and I’ll advise in ways to make the most of your social media’s potential impact on off page SEO.

The exact recipe of off page SEO you’ll need is going to depend on your market, audience, and competitors that currently occupy your target ranks. Before I start this aspect of an SEO campaign, I determine the type and level of authority your site will need to achieve its target ranks.

If you want to know more about Mr SEO Consultant’s approach to off page SEO, and why it’s an important part of an SEO campaign, read my authority, backlinks, and citations services page.

Managing your sites authority

Most websites that have been around a few years have backlinks coming from all places, good, bad, and ugly. There are a thousand reasons why sites have backlinks they didn’t ask for, some even malicious like a competitor dumping toxic links on your domain to limit your chances of ranking or worse, give you a penalty. To ensure a healthy link profile and good authority scores start every campaign by analysing all historic backlinks disavowing those which are toxic and negatively impacting the site. During the campaign I repeat this process on a regular basis. The frequency depends on the size, age, competitive landscape, and number of visitors for a site.  As a rule, they impact the potential to acquire toxic backlinks.

Continuous performance enhancement

SEO is competitive by nature and with Google and other search engines constantly releasing new features and making their definition of a good speed score more stringent there are always things that need to be enhanced after ranks have been achieved. It could be ensuring content remains the most informative and authoritative, improving your UX to maintain good user signals, improving site load speed to adhere to new requirements, making the most of a new Google feature or acquiring more and more citations and backlinks to remain the most authoritative. The latter tends to be the most common battle ground in most industries but it’s only because it’s the only area that is potentially limitless and can never end in a draw.

Reporting, monitoring and KPIs

The KPIs are search visitors, sales, increased search visibility and target search engine ranks achieved but within those top-level KPIs there are many others that will provide early indication whether the campaign is on track.

Before I start a campaign, I’ll review your analytics set up and goals to ensure we’re tracking behaviour and goals properly. I provide all my clients with an online dashboard that brings several data sources into one place and reports in real-time. It provides 24/7 access to live performance data and campaign activities and provides absolute transparency on my work and its impact.

Is that all that goes into an SEO campaign?

It’s a brief overview but Yes, SEO doesn’t have to be complicated, full of jargon or scary. One of the best resources to visually explain the most important rankings factors in SEO (ranking factors are the things I spoke about above) is Search Engine Lands periodic table of SEO. They produce a new table almost every year, I wasn’t joking when I said it changes fast.
